About The South County Journal
The South County Journal is an independent publication covering real estate, development, and coastal life in South County, Rhode Island — Narragansett, South Kingstown, North Kingstown, Charlestown, Westerly, and the villages between.
Why this exists
South County is one of the most consequential coastal markets in New England, and it has never had a dedicated record. Market data lives in scattered MLS summaries. Development news surfaces after decisions are made. Waterfront owners make six- and seven-figure decisions on anecdote. The Journal exists to close that gap: a publication that treats this market with the rigor it deserves.
What we publish
A monthly South County Market Report built from primary data. Neighborhood briefings for the towns and villages we cover. Waterfront Watch, our coastal property intelligence column. And practical advisory for owners and buyers making decisions here.
Who publishes this
The Journal is published by Island Rhodes Real Estate LLC and edited by Patrick Farrell, a South County native with two decades in Rhode Island real estate and more than $230 million in career transaction volume. Every article carries a named author, a publication date, and its sources.
First issue: August 2026.
